Intro to Capoeira Class JULY 13th 2023
Welcome to the Intro to Capoeira class!
Class is from 7pm-8:30pm, held @ THE HERC (2505 S. State St.)
Capoeira is a dynamic and rhythmic Afro-Brazilian martial art that combines elements of dance, acrobatics, and music. It was developed by enslaved Africans in Brazil as a form of self-defense and cultural expression.
In this class, you will learn the basic movements, kicks, and acrobatics of Capoeira. You'll also explore the fundamental principles of the game, such as balance, agility, and timing. Capoeira is not just a physical activity but also a cultural experience, so you'll have the opportunity to learn about its history, traditions, and musicality.
This class is taught by Professora Mandingueira, the founder of the Bora Vadiar Collective, who has been studying capoeira for over 18 years now. Mandingueira is from São Paulo, Brazil and she loves to welcome new students.
Throughout the class, you'll engage in solo and partner exercises that explore mobility & musicality in a slow pace and with lots of guidance. Capoeira is a great way to improve your fitness, coordination, and flexibility while immersing yourself in a vibrant and inclusive community.
Get ready to move, discover a new art form, and embrace the spirit of Capoeira!
